PUNJABI FOOD
The cuisine of Punjab has enormous variety and is extremely popular with many different cultures around the world. In the preparation of Punjabi food, onion, ginger and garlic are used extensively to enhance the taste.
Food preparation however differs dependent on location. Home cooking differs greatly from food prepared in restaurants. In restaurants, chefs use desi ghee, butter and cream to make the food truly remarkable. In the home however, sunflower oil or some other refined oil is preferred for cooking, in order to make the food low in fat.
Traditional Punjabi thali also consists of varied kinds of breads; some are baked in the tandoor such as tandoori roti, lachha paratha, naan and kulcha, while others are dry baked on tava like chapatti and jowar ki roti.
